What the Instagram Reel to Text tool does
It turns the speech in a public Instagram Reel into text. Our server fetches the audio from the link you paste, runs speech recognition on it and shows the result in an editor, one line per sentence with the time it starts. You get text only: the Reel and its audio are not offered for download, and the audio is deleted as soon as the transcript is ready.
What you can use a Reel transcript for
- Repurposing your own Reels into captions, carousels, blog posts or newsletters.
- Writing accurate captions and on-screen text from what you actually said.
- Taking notes from tips and tutorials without replaying the Reel.
- Quoting a line with the moment it was said.
Tips for a more accurate transcript
- Choose the spoken language if you know it, especially for short Reels.
- Clear speech works best. Trending audio or music under the voice lowers accuracy.
- Check names, hashtags and brand names, which are the words most often misheard.
What it can't do
- Private accounts and videos that need a login can't be read. Only public Reels work, and Instagram may block some of them.
- Videos up to 60 minutes long are supported.
- It transcribes speech only, not text shown on screen. It doesn't label speakers or translate.
- Songs and sound effects are not transcribed reliably.
Have the video file instead?
If it's your own Reel, save it from Instagram and upload the file to Video to Text, which can transcribe it right in your browser. For timed caption files, use the Subtitle Generator. Working with TikTok instead? Try TikTok to Text.
Use transcripts responsibly
Only transcribe Reels you made or have permission to use, and follow Instagram's terms and the creator's rights if you republish any of the text.
