About TranscriptionClip

TranscriptionClip is a set of free online tools for turning recordings into text and subtitles, and for everyday audio and video tasks. There's no account to create: open a tool, add your file and get the result.

What you can do here

  • Video to Text: an editable, timestamped transcript from MP4, MOV, WebM and other videos.
  • Audio to Text: transcripts of interviews, podcasts, lectures and voice memos.
  • Subtitle Generator: timed SRT and VTT captions you can edit line by line and preview on your video.
  • SRT to TXT: clean, readable text from subtitle files, without numbers or timecodes.
  • MP4 to MP3: the audio track of a video, saved as an MP3.
  • Video Compressor: smaller videos for email, Discord or upload limits.

How transcription works

By default, Video to Text, Audio to Text and Subtitle Generator run speech recognition on your own device: your browser downloads an open-source speech model, and your file never leaves your computer or phone. SRT to TXT always runs in your browser.

For long files or slower devices, you can choose to process a file on our server instead. Then only its audio track is sent to a speech-to-text provider, with settings that don't allow your audio to be used to train its models. MP4 to MP3 and Video Compressor always process your file on our server.

How your files are handled

  • There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for.
  • Uploaded files are deleted as soon as processing finishes. Converted files, such as an MP3 or a compressed video, are deleted automatically after 30 minutes, or immediately when you delete them.
  • Transcripts and subtitles are kept in server memory only, never written to disk or a database.
  • We never look at, share, sell or use your files or transcripts to train AI models.
  • Analytics tools never receive your files, file names or transcripts.

Honest about limits

AI transcription works best with clear audio and one person speaking at a time; music, background noise and overlapping voices cause mistakes. That's why every tool lets you review and edit the text before you export it. Files can be up to 60 minutes long, and processing on our server has a daily limit per visitor so the tools can stay free for everyone.
