Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use TranscriptionClip (the "Service"). We designed the Service to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, and files are deleted automatically.
Files you process
Tools that upload files
Video to Text, Audio to Text, Subtitle Generator, MP4 to MP3 and Video Compressor upload your file to our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection so it can be processed. Specifically:
- The uploaded file is stored in a private temporary folder that only your browser session can access.
- The original upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes, whether it succeeds or fails.
- Converted files (MP3 or compressed MP4) are deleted automatically 30 minutes after processing, or immediately when you click "Delete now" or "Start over".
- Transcripts and subtitles are held in server memory only and are never written to disk or a database.
- We do not look at, share, sell, or use your files or transcripts to train AI models.
Speech-to-text processing
Transcription and subtitle tools run on your device by default (see below). If you choose to process a file on our server instead, the audio track of your file is sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider to perform speech recognition. The provider processes the audio under its API terms to return the transcript to us, and we use provider settings that do not permit your audio to be used to train its models. Only the audio is sent — not the video picture or your file name.
Tools that run in your browser
SRT to TXT processes your file entirely on your device. When you transcribe or generate subtitles "on this device", speech recognition also runs in your browser and your file is never sent to our servers. To do this, your browser downloads an open-source speech model from Hugging Face and supporting code from the jsDelivr CDN. Those services see a normal download request (such as your IP address), but not your file.
Information collected automatically
- Session cookie. We set one functional cookie (
tc_sid) containing a random ID. It ensures that only you can see the status of, and download, your files. It expires after 24 hours and is not used for tracking or advertising. - Abuse prevention. To enforce usage limits, we keep counters associated with your IP address or session in server memory for up to 24 hours.
- Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure may record technical logs such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and error messages, which we use to keep the Service secure and working.
Advertising
The Service may show ads in the future, for example through Google AdSense. If we do, this section will be updated to describe the cookies involved and how to opt out. Advertisers will never receive your files or transcripts.
Your privacy rights
Because we don't have accounts and delete files automatically, we generally hold no personal information that can be tied to you after your session ends. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email us at support@transcriptionclip.com.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
Files are transferred over HTTPS, stored in isolated temporary folders, and accessible only to the session that uploaded them. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please don't upload files containing highly sensitive information such as medical records or passwords.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the "Last updated" date above. See also our Terms of Service.
